Everybody’s seen it and everybody’s raving about Slumdog Millionaire. I just saw it last night and wow, was I convinced that it really is one of the best movies of all time and it really deserves all the Oscars it got! I’m happy about the great ending and was actually surprised – I thought he was going to die in the end, but it turned out the brother was the one who got iced. (I’m not going to warn you about spoilers – I’m assuming I’m the last person on who’s watched it)

Slumdog Millionaire - moving and inspired
I’m really happy about Bollywood making its mark on the Hollywood scene. Anything to bring in a more diverse form of entertainment and bring down racism is a vote for advancing equal rights in all aspect.
In fact, a lot of the Indian culture has been slowly seeping through the West – partially because the barriers have been broken down and a lot of the West has been making its way to India also. A fourth of US workforce could be Indian, just judging by the number of Indians I get to work with when dealing with clients from the States. I’m guessing BPOs (call centers, book-keeping, Tech support, etc.) are in their heyday in India. To stress the point: Slumdog’s story revolves around a game that originated in the West – Who Wants to be a Millionaire.
In addition to Slumdog Millionaire, Anoop Desai is also making waves on US soil.

Anoop Desai from American Idol Season 8 gives voice to Indian talent (something besides answering calls)
In the gay world, I just wish we can say the same. I would like to think the “lesbian” culture has seeped into the straight world, but I can hardly name any. At least the gay lingo is now being used by even the straightest and homophobic of men (attention guys), but has lesbian culture (aside from “lesbian” porn) really made its way to heteroville?
Lend me your thoughts.
Lesfriendly Rating:

Although the film did not have any lgbt or lesbian references whatsoever, its effects on racial equality can have spillover effects on the gay world.
