Not a Lesbian Anymore?

I’ve realized something. I’m not lesbian anymore.

I’ve never had a problem with labels until I realized that I was not comfortable with the term “lesbian” anymore.

It suddenly feels constricting. Don’t get me wrong – I’m definitely not going straight anymore. However, being “lesbian” in the essence of the word isn’t comforting anymore.

LGBT Hate Poster: Rude Welcome to 2010

Posted by Lesfriendly.com - The lesbian blog | Posted in Gay Issues, Religion | Posted on 04-01-2010

As posted by Anne Lim

As we were savoring the last few hours of the work-free holiday season (in typical NGO fashion, i tuned out of work mode after december 19th as best as i could), Lala and i saw this poster (see photos) in at least 2 street posts in Katipunan Avenue corner Santolan.

This poster was definitely a rude welcome to 2010. Nothing jerks one from vacation mode as quickly as a poster that has the words “lesbian”, “gay”, “satan”, and “hell” all in one sentence and all within a stone’s throw away from the house i grew up in.

lesbian gay poster discrimination

A ridiculous gay hate poster on a wall

Our god joyfully made man & woman but satan destroy many of them by making man become gay and woman lesbian to be his followers & bring them to hell in the end.

Like the haters during the pride march, this poster must energize us and remind us that we have our work cut out for us in the months to come. Bigotry and religious fundamentalisms were alive and kicking even during the season of giving. To fellow believers in and advocates of human rights, let us stay focused and relentless in working for LGBT rights. The haters are getting bolder and ever closer to home.

I am certainly no satan worshipper! And please pray for me for other things… like I win the lottery so I can use all my money to stop gay hate crimes. GEEZ!

Helena’s Sweet Revenge

Posted by Lesfriendly.com - The lesbian blog | Posted in Fanfiction | Posted on 02-01-2010

An Lword Fanfiction. Purely fun.

—————————————-

Shane knocked furiously at her own door. She can’t, for the life of her, explain why she was stuck outside her own house, on her own party. She just went outside to smoke. She scratched her head and rapped at the door again. “Yo guys, open up! Somebody locked the door.”

“Hurry up! She’s getting mad!” Alice whispered intensely to a frazzled Tina, who was furiously attacking pieces of grass with a pestle. She pounded the poor plant to shreds.

“Okay, okay! It’s ready!” Tina whispered. Or screamed. Helena couldn’t tell the difference. She just looked at the girls and stayed back, not wanting to get in anybody’s way, and certainly not wanting weed on her hair.

We’ve watched Takarazuka Revue on our recent Japan trip and my oh my, it was absolutely a lesbian fest. Super hot girls dressed as impossibly hot and beautiful men (bishounen) kissing other super hot girls in squeaky voices, and in a full-pledged theater too!

Tamago: A Japanese Lesbian Bar Experience

Posted by Lesfriendly.com - The lesbian blog | Posted in Food, Survival | Posted on 30-12-2009

Gf and I spent 2 weeks in Japan last Novemeber. Of course, we wanted to check out the lesbian and gay scene.  We went bar-hopping at Osaka’s Doyama-cho and we had a splendid time with the nice lesbian hang outs there – Lupu had a nice and chatty lesbian owner (Yu) and we met a cute gay guy hanging out there. We also went to Barfly and the gay owner was so sweet, he even gave us a DVD of his drag show. The typical spend was 700 Yen for a drink… which is already quite a stretch, but since this was Japan then everything’s overpriced anyway.

So it was natural that we wanted to repeat the experience in Tokyo.

Japanese Anime Yaoi and Yuri Fanfiction

Posted by Lesfriendly.com - The lesbian blog | Posted in Art, Intimacy, Lesfriendly, Pop stars | Posted on 28-12-2009

It’s the holidays and I’m just stuck at home with nothing better to do than to fall back into my old high school habit of… reading japanese anime fanfiction. No, in fact, CONSUMING it. I’ve in fact written some of my own but I totally forgot where I’ve put them already. But the remaining ones online written by other wonderful writers are sooo good in their mushy, sentimental, steamy and oftentimes overly-descriptive way that I’ve found myself addicted once again.

Ex-counters of the Lesbian Kind

Posted by Lesfriendly.com - The lesbian blog | Posted in Lesfriendly | Posted on 26-12-2009

Have you ever had the weirdest interaction with an ex that you absolutely didn’t want to see?

I certainly hadn’t. No sir, lucky me. Except for one instance. Okay, okay. It was absolutely the worst day of my life.

There was a period in my life where I had a boyfriend (iwww) for a couple of years. He offered distraction at a time I was heartbroken over my previous 2 girlfriends, and I was in a period in my life when I thought I was ready to swear girls off.

New Year, New Look

Posted by Lesfriendly.com - The lesbian blog | Posted in Lesfriendly | Posted on 25-12-2009

Okay, first of all let me explain what happened. I know, I know – I’ve been away for more than a month. And for those of you loyal readers, you may have had trouble accessing the blog some time over the past month. WHY?

First, I took a well-deserved break with girlfriend to the land of yuri, yaoi, lemon and lesbian-hotness-comes-to-life Takarazuka – Japan (girlfriend is half-japanese, BTW)! For 2 weeks, we totally went 1900s and disconnected from the world – no internet, no mobile phone, no blogging – and just inhaled the culture (albeit an expensive one). To spite you all and make you jealous, here are some photos:

On LGBT Rejection in the Philippines: An International Plea for Help

Lesfriendly.com news:

November 13, 2009
The facts

In a decision made by the Philippines’ Commission on Elections, the bid for the Philippines’ LGBT party Ang Ladlad to run for a Congress seat for the upcoming 2010 elections was rejected due to grounds of “immorality as stated by the Koran and the Bible”, and as “being a threat to the youth”.

In the resolution, COMELEC and its commissioners cited passages from the Bible – Romans 1:26-27 – and the Koran to illustrate their point.

Romans 1:26-27 reads: “For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature. And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was meet.”

Furthermore, the petition stated that

The Gayest Song of All Time

1

Posted by Lesfriendly.com - The lesbian blog | Posted in Pop stars, music | Posted on 04-11-2009

I mentioned before that the most lesbian song of all time was Get Down by Backstreet boys.

Now, I just also recently realized what the gayest song of all time was!

It’s no other than Boyzone’s No Matter What!

Enjoy the lyrics and the cheesy gay video:
