Last week, I was able to have the honor of meeting BB Gandanghari. At least, for ten minutes of my life. In my previous blog entry about meeting BB, I mentioned that I was running late. Well, I did. All I saw at the blogger’s meet after rushing there was the picture-taking -with-BB part. Still, seeing her up close was still something I wouldn’t regret.
She was all that: tall, slender, and totting a sexy wink. Although girlfriend and fellow blogger pointed out that she had a stubble. Of course, that can be excused- she isn’t taking any hormones and she just came from a plane ride from somewhere.
Since I don’t have any photos with me, allow me to show you some photos from all the other bloggers who were there:
- From Style Manila
- From Pinoy LGBT blog
- From marocharim
- Bloggers photo op with BB from earthlinggorgeous
- Blogger photo with BB from POC
- BB from Style Manila
Also, true enough, I will be quoting everything from popmaxnow.com. She was there the whole time and was even more starstruck than I am.
Or not. Actually, come to think of it, I only have three major points:
1. I apologize for my previous entry having called BB a “he”. I was coming off the fact that he was a matinee hunk turning into a gay man and initially started the blog entry with he. As my entry progressed and as I was already referring to BB, I forgot to change my pronouns.
The bad: Philippine Online Chronicles, the host of ther event, picked up my post and quoted from me. They did it before I got the chance to correct myself, so I had to issue an apology on the quote itself.
2. BB, according to popmax, was very quick and witty with her retorts and comments, but without being snappy or negative. Which is great. All the negativity coming off from members of the LGBT community would just turn people off, and we do need the good PR right now. Makes me think how much British blood she has in her.
3. Popmax told me an amusing story. When BB went to the US, she initially wanted “Gandanghari” as her first name. But then when people asked her what her name was, they couldn’t understand it, so he ended up going back to “Rustom”. When she decided with “Binibini” (in Filipino, means Miss), the same thing happened, so it came to BB.
I sure wish another BB pops out but this time, representing a trans F-to-M. Not that we want a whole media circus, but we actually do want representation.
Lesfriendly Rating:

She’s excellent! When I went up to her and told her that I’m a lesbian blogger, she gave a knowing smile. It looks like she knows her responsibility of breathing some life into the LGBT movement so, kudos!
PS. The title of this entry came from the billboard of Clear on EDSA that makes sense for BB but doesn’t make sense here: the copy says “I’m convinced my name is Nicole”. Um, why wouldn’t you be?
