I woke up today suddenly missing Heath Ledger ( it didn’t help that our office computer server is named after him to commemorate his death and greatness), so I went online to search for some of his Brokeback Mountain clips.

Fortunately (or unfortunately), I came across this cheesy but unbelievably funny lesbian spoof of Brokeback Mountain. It made my day and I hope this lesbian spoof makes yours too:

Make it Happen... It didn't

Make it Happen... It didn't

The girl is so remarkable in her Make it Happen the movie, so much that I’ve totally forgotten her name. But what I remember is that her moves are damn hot and even spicier, like Barbecue sauce (as his royal highness Simon Cowell would put it). Take a look:

Lesbian Thoughts on Slumdog Millionaire

Everybody’s seen it and everybody’s raving about Slumdog Millionaire. I just saw it last night and wow, was I convinced that it really is one of the best movies of all time and it really deserves all the Oscars it got! I’m happy about the great ending and was actually surprised – I thought he was going to die in the end, but it turned out the brother was the one who got iced. (I’m not going to warn you about spoilers – I’m assuming I’m the last person on who’s watched it)

I’m really happy about Bollywood making its mark on the Hollywood scene. Anything to bring in a more diverse form of entertainment and bring down racism is a vote for advancing equal rights in all aspect.

Race to Witch Mountain: Who Got There First?

We, the audience, did.

We got there the first five minutes of the film. The plot is so predictable, I won’t even dignify the film with a review. I’m sure you can also predict what I’m going to say. You can find an indication of the film’s quality in the Rotten Tomatoes Race to Witch Mountain profile.

Watch the Women in Watchmen

Posted by Lesfriendly.com - The lesbian blog | Posted in Movies | Posted on 20-03-2009

Caught Watchmen a couple of weeks back. Now, I admit I’m not a big lesbian comic book fan except for the Archie and Asterix and Oblix comics that I read back in my youth. However, being around all the comic book fans (both girlfriend and officemates) make me sometimes wish I was.

Anyhoo, apparently, there is a lesbian character in Watchmen named Silhouette, member of the Minutemen, another group of superheroes formed a couple of decades before the Watchmen were formed. I wouldn’t elaborate on the Watchmen story and plot here, but you can take a look at Watchmen on Wikipedia.

Silhouette was a German who joined the Minutemen, but was later on kicked out when it became known (about 1946) that she was a lesbian. Later on in the film, there was a shot of her and her love being killed with blood spattered on the walls, spelling out “lesbian whore”. It is rumored that the killer was an adversary seeking revenge.

Outraged at Outrage: Lack of Lesbian Representation

2

Posted by Lesfriendly.com - The lesbian blog | Posted in Movies, Web | Posted on 11-02-2009

Philippines’ virginal and young Outrage Magazine recently came up with the feature entitled Stirred, AND Shaken… GLBTQIA Shakers and Movers written by an M.D. dela Cruz Tan, an article that supposedly showcases the 10 community members that helps break the bonds of the gay stereotype in the Philippines.

I could imagine the scenario in my head: the bulk of readership, advertisers and contact of Outrage are members of the community who were interested in men ie. gay men, bisexuals and trans (M-F). That is the only legitimate reason why I will try to rationalize their own fault of not exactly representing the whole community in the 10 LGBTQIA shakers they featured.

5 Absolutely Worst Roles Lesbians Could Play in Movies

1

Posted by Lesfriendly.com - The lesbian blog | Posted in Movies | Posted on 27-01-2009

Imagine you – hot, chick lesbian just coming out of the Hollywood closet. You embark on a major make-over: you die your hair black, snip it Shane style, and ditch your flower dresses for something cooler – like leather coats. Anyway, the world (and the girls of it) is on your fingertips. You wink and someone notices, you sneeze and someone hands over a tissue. Somebody says you should be in the movies. “Great idea!,” you exclaim.

Or so you thought. Be careful- you just might find yourself stuck in the worst roles any lesbian could play *ever*. Here they are:

Kate Beckinsale’s Doppelganger in Underworld 3

Posted by Lesfriendly.com - The lesbian blog | Posted in Movies | Posted on 26-01-2009

I’ve always been a Beckinsale baby. I liked her in Underworld. I like her in Click. I liked her in Underworld 2. And I couldn’t wait until they released Underworld 3: Rise of the Lycans – the much anticipated prequel to the much loved series where girls like me drool at our lovely British actress.

To my half disappointment, Kate is seen for about 10 seconds in the whole movie. Read the rest of this entry »

Bride Wars: I’ll war the brides alright

6

Posted by Lesfriendly.com - The lesbian blog | Posted in Movies | Posted on 14-01-2009

Caught the Philippine premier of Bride Wars starring an anorexic Anne Hathaway and banging Kate Hudson last night. It was weird sitting in a row full of tomboys in such a straight straight flick (what’s gone wrong with the world???) where the rest of the people watching seemed to be either married couples, couples about to be married, and couples about to hit splitsville upon watching the film.

There was a slight glimmer of hope as the opening credits showed a tween Emma (Anne) and Liv (Kate) dancing, with Liv dressed as the bride and Anne as the groom.
